Dear Parent/Guardian:
Welcome to BMLSS! This is an exciting time for both you and your child. We assume that you are both approaching this new beginning with a mixture of excitement and nervousness. We wanted to take a moment to let you know that we are once again going to run our highly successful orientation program called LINK. The LINK Crew is made up of a number of selected senior students and members of our incredibly supportive teaching staff.
In order to participate, your son/daughter should be here at the school, waiting outside the front doors, on Thursday, August 30st by 8:30am. Incoming students will be met by members of the Link Crew. The aim of the morning is to help incoming students become better acquainted with the school and to meet senior students who will provide support throughout the school year. Students will receive their timetables and be shown where their lockers and first period classrooms are located. Most importantly, students will be able to ask questions, have fun, and meet new people. We strongly encourage all grade 9 students to come out and make the most of the day!
Students are asked to bring a Dudley combination lock with them on this day to place on their locker.
Parents/guardians are asked to meet their son/daughter after the BBQ at 1:30pm. Siblings are more than welcome to join after the BBQ as well. At this time, you will be welcome to tour the school with your son/daughter and see some of the classrooms in which they will be learning.
Students who miss the orientation program will receive timetables and locker assignments on the first day of school, Tuesday September 4th, 2018.
Please be reminded that parents/guardians are responsible for transportation arrangements on LINK day. We look forward to meeting all of our new grade nine students. Participation in this orientation day will help alleviate some of the nervousness associated with entering a new school and will increase the level of excitement about becoming a Laker! If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the school.
Sincerely,
Kim Williams,
Principal
