The Youth Job Connection (YJC) Program may be an ideal next step for learners who are graduating this year and who would like to join the labour market.

Youth Job Link (YJL)
 for young people (15 to 29 years old) transitioning from school to work
o Program delivered by all EO Service Providers (Agilec, YMCA, Employment North)
o Up to $300 per participant in training supports and employer placement incentives
Participants will:
 improve knowledge of labour market and career options
 participate in workshops to build life skills needed to plan and manage a career
 write résumé, search and apply for jobs, and prepare for interviews
 get ready for the workplace by learning about teamwork, customer service, health and safety and labour rules
 be eligible to participate in job-matching services to help connect with employers
To qualify for job matching services:
 between 15 and 29 years old
 a resident of Ontario
 eligible to work in Canada
 no previous work experience (i.e. has not been put on an employer’s payroll and received wages, or has worked for less than one week)
Youth Job Connection (YJC)
 for unemployed young people (15 to 29 years old) facing challenges (e.g. poverty, homelessness or mental health issues) in finding work
o Employment North is the Service Provider for this program in Muskoka
o Up to $7,500 per participant in employment and training supports and employer placement incentives. Amounts are determined individually based on the opportunity for the client.
Participant supports:
 at least 60 hours (up to a max of 90 hours) paid training to prepare for the workplace
 a job for up to 6 months
 mentorship, job-coaching and help with the transition from school to work or to ongoing employment, once the program ends
To qualify:
 between 15 and 29 years old
 unemployed
 not attending full-time school or training
 a resident of Ontario
 If you are under 18, you must already be legally excused from school. This means that you have either graduated or are participating in a supervised alternative learning program approved by your school board.
Youth Job Connection Summer (YJCS)
 for high school students (15 to 18 years old) who face challenges (e.g. poverty, homelessness or mental health issues) in finding summer or part-time and after school jobs
o Employment North is the Service Provider for this program in Muskoka
o Up to $2,500 per participant in employment and training supports and employer placement incentives. Amounts are determined individually based on the opportunity for the client.
Participant supports:
 at least 20 hours (up to 30 hours) of paid training to prepare for the workplace
 summer jobs that last for up to 8 weeks
 part-time and after-school jobs are available year round if they don’t conflict with school
 mentorship, job-coaching and help returning to school after the program ends
To qualify:
 between 15 and 18 years old
 a resident of Ontario
 a high school student planning to stay in or return to school, or to move on to postsecondary education

 Mental illness
 Disability
 Homelessness
 Living in poverty
 Low motivation
 Limited education
 Socially marginalized
 Aboriginal status
 Limited (or issues with) literacy
 Conflict with the law
